Italy to extend coronavirus lockdown till April 12 as death toll in country crosses 11,000

Italy is set to extend the nationwide coronavirus lockdown till at least April 12, the country's top health official said on Monday. Italy has so far been the hardest-hit nation and has reported more than 11,000 deaths due to novel coronavirus. The country is on a lockdown since March 10. According to Minister of Health Roberto Speranza, the decision had been made earlier on Monday during the meeting of the government's high-level Technical and Scientific Committee, Xinhua news agency reported.
