Delhi tractor rally violence: 38 FIRs, over 80 arrests so far; next meet with Centre on Feb 2

The Delhi Police have so far registered 38 cases and arrested 84 people in connection with the violence during a tractor parade by farmers here on Republic Day, officials said on Saturday. The tractor march by farmers protesting against the three recent agriculture laws had turned violent, leading to chaotic scenes on the streets of the national capital on Republic Day. Thousands of protesting farmers had clashed with the police during the parade. Many of them, driving tractors, reached the Red Fort and entered the monument.

No question of closing door on talks with govt about farm laws: Samyukta Kisan Morcha

There is no question of farmer organisations closing the door on talks with the government, said the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Saturday, adding they had noted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statements made earlier in the day about the Centre standing by its offer. In a statement signed by farmer leader Darshan Pal, the SKM said that it would continue to seek a full repeal of the three farm laws and a legal entitlement guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP).

According to the Regional Meteorological Department of Delhi, the maximum temperature in the city touched 22 degrees Celsius on Saturday and the minimum touched 4 degrees Celsius. As minimal temperatures continued to shiver Delhites, many parts of the city reported low visibility.
