Actress-MP Kirron Kher suffering from blood cancer: Report

Veteran actress Kirron Kher, who also happens to be a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member is suffering from blood cancer. According to a report in Hindustan Times, her colleague and Chandigarh BJP president Arun Sood revealed that the 68-year-old actress-turned-politician is suffering from multiple myeloma which happens to be a type of blood cancer. Not only this, but her treatment for the disease in Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital began last year. Sood, during a specially-convened press conference on Wednesday, also stated that the latest test reports reveal that cancer has "receded from her arm and shoulder."

India records 72,330 new COVID-19 cases, 459 deaths, biggest 1-day spike since early October

India on Thursday reported over 70,000 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours, according to Health Ministry. As many as 72,330 new Covid-19 cases were recorded and 459 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours from across the country, the highest since December 5. Of the 72,330 new infections, 39,544 cases were reported from Maharashtra. Chhattisgarh recorded its highest ever count, with 4,563 cases. Karnataka also reported over 4,000 cases.

UP schools shut till April 4 amid COVID-19 case surge

With the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has extended the closure of all schools up to Class 8 to April 4. Earlier, the Yogi Adityanath government had ordered the closure of schools for students up to Class 8 till March 31. The new instructions were given after a late-night meeting on Tuesday, chaired by the chief minister. The chief minister has also ordered officials to increase the number of Covid-19 testing in the state.

Delhi: 2 killed, 2 injured as speeding truck runs over footpath in Kashmere Gate area

In a tragic incident, two people were killed after a truck ran over a footpath in Delhi. Two others have also been injured in the incident, which was reported early on Wednesday, in the Kashmere Gate area. One of the deceased, identified as Bahram Khan, was riding a scooter at the time of the accident. One other person sleeping on the footpath died following the accident.

Germany's federal and health ministers have agreed to limit the general use of AstraZeneca's Covid-19 vaccine to people over age 60 starting Wednesday, citing concerns about blood clots.
